PediaSure Complete

As recommended yesterday by our pediatrician doctor, I have gotten hold of the milk formula i.e. PediaSure Complete by Abbott. Surprisingly Reanne received it well on the first try.

PediaSure Complete is a nutritionally complete and balanced formula that is clinically proven to promote catch-up growth. It is ideal for children who

Celebrating Reanne birthday

We were at what the local calls it 'small little Genting Highland' aka 'siew wan deang'. A place situated at Pusat Pelancongan Dan Menara Tinjau, Jalan Hulu Langat, Selangor. We were there celebrating Reanne 1st birthday....2nd time but on her actual day.

It was our first visit there except for Silas and Rachel, who have been there once. When we reached there, the Look Out Point restaurant was already quite full. Must be the over spilling from the day before i.e. Valentine's day. We got a nice table for 9 of us including 3 kids. The night scenery was really fantastic. The foods was acceptable if not for the great view from the top. Western foods with some familiar local delights are available too. We ate, we shoot photos after which we adjourn back home for the finale of singing, blowing of candle and feasting of cake.

NESTLÉ ASSURES SAFETY OF PRODUCTS IN MALAYSIA

Nestlé Malaysia would like inform the public that the milk powder for all its dairy based products currently manufactured and distributed by the Company are sourced from suppliers from Australia, New Zealand, Europe or the USA.

For all Nestlé milk powders in Malaysia including NAN, LACTOGEN, NESLAC, NESPRAY EVERYDAY and NESTLÉ Omega Plus and dairy-based products such as MILO, NESTLÉ ice cream and NESTLÉ yogurt products, the milk powder used as raw material or ingredient is sourced from Australia, New Zealand, Europe or the USA. Nestlé Malaysia DOES NOT import any milk powders from China.

All milk powders supplied to Nestlé are checked and verified on safety and quality. Nestlé applies very strict quality control measures and risk assessment at all levels of its raw material sourcing and manufacturing processes. We comply with the strictest safety standards and assure consumers and customers that Nestlé products are safe for consumption.

In addition, we have received a safety assurance from our largest milk powder supplier that states, “all products sold and marketed outside China and Taiwan are free of any possibility of contamination with melamine from local Chinese raw milk and adhere to the strictest New Zealand and international standards.”

As further reassurance to local consumers, the Food Safety and Quality Division of the Ministry of Health had issued a statement last week confirming the safety of milk products in the country. Nestlé has also written to the Ministry of Health to confirm the safety of our products in Malaysia.

Following recent press reports claiming that traces of melamine had been found in a Nestlé growing up milk in Hong Kong, the Nestlé Headquarters in Switzerland issued a statement that the Company was confident that none of its products in China is made from milk adulterated with melamine.

The Hong Kong Government's Food and Environmental Hygiene Department has just released a report declaring that NESLAC Gold 1+ which was mentioned in the media reports, is safe and that no melamine was detected in the product. NESLAC Gold 1+ was previously tested by government-approved independent laboratories such as the Hong Kong Standards and Testing Centre Ltd. (18-20 September) and the Food Industry Research and Development in Taiwan (16 September). Neither test detected melamine in the product. NESLAC Gold 1+ from China is no available in Malaysia.

Dutch Lady Malaysia wants to assure all its consumers in Malaysia that Dutch Lady¡¯s full range of products for various age groups, ranging from Infant Formula to powders and liquid are safe for consumption and free from melamine contamination.

Milk products from Dutch Lady sold in Malaysia use local fresh milk or milk powder sourced from countries like the Netherlands and New Zealand.

As a precaution, in Singapore and Hong Kong, Dutch Lady affiliate companies have initiated a recall of some milk products that were sourced from China. These products are not for sale in Malaysia.

We wish to emphasize that in Malaysia, no Dutch Lady products are sourced from China, and that all Dutch Lady products are safe for consumption.

China liquid milk products found with Melamine

Latest news in China on the on-going tainted milk formula crisis reported more than 12,000 infants around the country have been hospitalized which most of them consumed baby formula made by Sanlu. The Ministry of Health says 104 cases are quite serious, but nearly 1,600 other babies have already been cured and left hospital.

China's quality control watchdog says most liquid milk products on the market do not contain melamine. The statement came after a nationwide test for the chemical because it was found in baby formula. The State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine, along with 150 state-level food-testing centers, checked liquid milk products from more than 400 dairy producers. Their tests show that most diary products are safe to drink. No melamine was found in products from 408 producers, including Sanyuan and Nestle.

However, test results show that nearly 10 percent of the sample batches taken from Mengniu and Yili, two major Chinese brands, contained 0.7 to 8.4 milligrams of melamine per kilogram. Meanwhile, over 6 percent of the sample batches from another company, Bright, contained 0.6 to 8.6 milligrams of melamine per kilogram.

Medical experts say such a small amount of the chemical would not cause any illness, such as kidney stones, for an adult who drinks less than 2 liters of such milk everyday.

Nevertheless, the administration is asking the dairy producers to recall ALL contaminated products, locate the source of the contamination, and bring to justice all those responsible for the contamination.

Checkpoints for China diary products

Malaysia has imposed a “level six mechanism” to stop the importation of all Chinese dairy products, which are feared to have been contaminated by melamine.

Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said that through this mechanism, all incoming dairy products from China at six checkpoints throughout Malaysia would be stopped immediately and returned. “In Malaysia we have six entry checkpoints and all these entry points are on high alert ... any product of this nature coming in through these checkpoints will be stopped immediately and be returned -- it is called ‘level six alert’ at these entry points.

“We would like to inform the public that Malaysia only imports dairy products from Australia and New Zealand. We do not import from China.

From what I found out at the news Sanlu, a milk powder producer 43 per cent owned by New Zealand dairy giant Fonterra, was ordered to halt production last week after investigators found the chemical melamine in its powder was causing kidney stones in infants. Farmers or dealers supplying milk to Sanlu may have diluted it with water and then added melamine, used in plastics, fertilisers and cleaning products, to make the milk's protein level appear higher than it actually was.

Melamine was linked to deaths and illness of thousands of cats and dogs in the United States last year after it was added to pet food components exported from China. Normally inert, it can trigger the formation of kidney stones in the presence of cyanuric acid.

We need to practice caution when purchasing diary products especially from China. Read the labels. Not that I want to boycott but no choice to adhere prevention.

Fonterra Anmum Malaysia is safe

Baby formula milk sold in the country is safe, Health Minister Datuk Liow Tiong Lai said. "Parents need not be worried about milk powder contaminated with melamine as is the case in China because Malaysia does not import baby formula milk from China,”

According to reports, three infants have died and more than six thousand have fallen sick after after consuming milk contaminated with melamine, an industrial chemical used to make plastic cups and saucers.

Meanwhile, in Petaling Jaya, Fonterra Brands Malaysia assured customers that its milk products in Malaysia were safe. In a statement, company general manager John McKay said consumers could buy its Anmum, Fernleaf, Anlene, Chesdale and Anchor brands with absolute confidence.

“The issue relating to the safety of China milk powder products is confined to products made from China-sourced raw milk sold by Sanlu in mainland China.” McKay said none of the batch in question was exported out of China, adding that the recall for Anmum Maternan in China only applied to one batch manufactured and distributed only in China. The statement said Fonterra was a minority 43% shareholder in Sanlu and did not export China-made milk products.

Fonterra China recall Anmum Materna

On Sept 16, Fonterra have release statement on their milk formula products at China in the concern of the tainted baby formula scandal. As of today more than 6,200 infants across the country developed kidney stones after drinking Sanlu's baby formula which was tainted by melamine, a chemical believed to help increase the protein content in the milk. Fonterra China statement.
Fonterra China today announced a voluntary recall of one batch of prenatal milk sold in China under the ANMUM Materna brand name.

This particular batch had been manufactured and distributed under licence by San Lu using what we believe to be contaminated local raw milk. A company spokesman said this issue applies to the one batch of ANMUM Materna which was distributed in China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan). None of the batch in question was exported out of China.

All other ANMUM and ANLENE products in the market have been produced using only 100% fully imported milk from New Zealand and are free from any possibility of contamination with melamine from locally sourced milk, and adhere to the strictest New Zealand and international standards. Fonterra China said the stock was being recalled because consumer safety was the company’s utmost concern.
