Our first apple cake

Mummy's first try of making an apple cake turn out to be a great success. Ivan and Reanna did lend a hand to help out.

The baking process was the most challenging part as the kids are anxious to eat it. When finally the oven timer was up and with barely a few minutes of cooling down, it already at the kids mouth. They were fighting for the biggest portion.

All of us like it so much. TQ mummy for the delicious cake!

All you can eat Durian Fest

This Jom Durian V which will see seven tonnes of durian brought to Subang Parade for a durian party to raise funds for the Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia. For a minimum donation of RM20 per person, you will get to enjoy durian to your heart’s content for one hour.

They are having 4 session for to choose from:
1st session = 1.30pm - 2.30pm
2nd session = 2.45pm - 3.45pm
3rd session = 4.00pm - 5.00pm
4th session = 5.15pm - 6.15pm 

Tickets for Session 1 and 2 have been sold out. Those who wish to participate in the event should quickly head to Subang Parade to purchase tickets for Session 3 (4pm-5pm) or Session 4 (5.15pm-6.15pm) before they run out.

Morib and Bagan Lalang Beach

Back in Feb, we made a short trip to Morib beach. First and foremost because the kids haven't been there before. And secondly both Pei and me have not been there some pretty long time. We heard that there was an improve beach facilities too. So there we went to check it out.

Indeed the place was beautified for people to picnic there with food and souvenir stores. Unfortunately the beach is still not favorable for swimming. Muddy and silky sand.

Of course we didn't go there empty handed nor empty stomach. We stop by Dengkil to buy the famous local hand made 'Ka Heong Pau'.  You should give it a try if you do come around this area.

Feeling not quite satisfied we then continued our journey to Bagan Lalang beach. The beach here is much better for lay back time and dipping too. As usual Ivan and Reanne kept themselves busy playing the sand.

Overall it's a nice short breakaway for a family of four like us.

Hakka Tang Yuan

Today as chinese all around the world celebrate Dong Zhi festival, a must have dish or delicacy is the Tang Yuan. For our family the Tang Yuan is cook with soup that taste salty added with 'pai kuat'. This is Hakka style of cooking of the Tang Yuan. Other dialect such as Cantonese will cook it in sweet taste minus the 'pai kuat'. Anyway there are many varieties nowadays as the delicacy being modernise.

As traditional practise, after eating the Tang Yuan I am 'a year older'. I guess this is one the delicacy women wants to shy away......ha ha ha.

Harmony Life Organic Cafe & Mart

If you want to get yourselves a wholesome foods, I can recommend this organic mart cum cafe located at Sri Petaling for your fancy. Harmony Life Organic Cafe & Mart goes by their 8 No’s Concept in their dishes: No MSG, No Artificial Colouring, No Preservatives, No White Sugar, No White Salt, No Meat, No Egg and No Garlic.

My family together with my parent in-laws were there last Saturday having our dinner. This is my 2nd visit to the cafe but 1st for my family members. My family likes the food that being served there. We order several dishes which comes together with brown rice. Their miso soup and seaweed soup were fantastic. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos (busy eating and serving Ivan).

There were also a corner for reading and books recommendation available for visitor to browse. Overall the food is good and so is the environment. Have a try if you have not venture into organic vegetarian food before.

Restaurant Woo Pin Fish Head Noddle

My family weekend venture another round of re-visit one of our 'old' place we (Soo Pei and I before the arrival of our kids) used to eat. Thats bring us to Restaurant Woo Pin at Jalan Ikan Emas (Gold Fish Road....so appropriate) just along Jalan Loke Yew.

They are famous for their Fish Head Noddle and Fish Paste Noddle. Price for one bowl have already peak to RM6.50 (small) and RM7.50 (big). We ordered one big Fish Paste and one small Fish Head noddle. Both the kids like it especially Ivan.

We got to pre-warn you guys, the restaurant is without air-cond and hot. Operated in a low cost apartment shop unit. Kinda small and tigh. So prepare to sweat for the food.

Restoran Kin Kin spicy pan mee

2 weeks ago this is where my family when to have our lunch at Restoran Kin Kin 40 Ground Floor, Jalan Dewan Sultan Sulaiman 1, off Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Kuala Lumpur.

They are famous for their spicy pan mee with egg (mata kerbau). They serve you their pan mee dried and you gotto add the dried chillies yourselves (as much as you like).

Very shiok!

Celebrating Reanne birthday

We were at what the local calls it 'small little Genting Highland' aka 'siew wan deang'. A place situated at Pusat Pelancongan Dan Menara Tinjau, Jalan Hulu Langat, Selangor. We were there celebrating Reanne 1st birthday....2nd time but on her actual day.

It was our first visit there except for Silas and Rachel, who have been there once. When we reached there, the Look Out Point restaurant was already quite full. Must be the over spilling from the day before i.e. Valentine's day. We got a nice table for 9 of us including 3 kids. The night scenery was really fantastic. The foods was acceptable if not for the great view from the top. Western foods with some familiar local delights are available too. We ate, we shoot photos after which we adjourn back home for the finale of singing, blowing of candle and feasting of cake.

Eat eat eat at Teluk Gong

Our merdeka final eating marathon reached Teluk Gong, Klang with the full family members on board. None was left out this round. This occasion is specially to celebrate my dad's birthday wish to have seafood at Klang.

All of us were first time here at Teluk Gong. Many have spoke of this seafood 'heaven' only until now we seen and taste it ourselves. Based on my colleague description, we managed to find the place. We arrived about 6pm. But upon arriving, we weren't sure which restaurant to settle in as there is so many of them. The sight of signboards already can confuse you. We finally opt for Restaurant Seafood Teluk Gong Sdn Bhd as advice by my colleague.

As we entered the restaurant, the place quite occupied with costumers. I thought we were early. After ordered our choice dishes, the foods was later delivered out considerably fast. Without wasting time, we commence feasting! By 7pm when we already half way eating, the place was full. The food was quite good and the price also very reasonable bear in mind on peak day. People really travel thus far to this corner of the world to eat. Unbelievable!

Eat eat eat at Taman Mutiara

Our 2nd eating marathon landed at Taman Mutiara, Cheras (opposite Leisure Mall and next to 1-Station cafe) right after Sunday Service with Philip's, Daniel Seah's and Silas' family for lunch. Why this restaurant? (by the way I forgotten its name) It all started when Daniel Seah (blogger a.k.a Danlion.blogspot.com) posted his food blog at this restaurant and it suddenly create a 'craving' among us (bloggers) to try it out especially Rachel. And so we did.

As commented earlier by Daniel, the food indeed is delicious!

We also celebrated Hannah's birthday (which falls on 1 Sept) on the spot unprepared after highlighted by Marilyn. With no cake, we opt for a Yam Cake instead for Hannah. Blessed Birthday!

The marathon continues.....

Eat eat eat at Jalan Pudu

I must admit, my family is on the go last few days on eating 'marathon'. With my parents along, we start our first mileage at Jalan Pudu/Jalan Pasar Road night stalls.

26 years ago this spot was our family favorite dinning spot almost every Saturday or Sunday. I was about 9 years old and Silas about 5 years then when my family stayed nearby at Jalan Chan Sow Lin. I still can remember the good feeling of coming out to eat at that spot.

Last Saturday evening, I decided to re-visit this 'old spot'. And yes, we eat a lot of stuffs. We ordered fried 'loh pak', 'chee cheong fun', 'tong sui' dessert i.e. bo bo cha cha and mak jok, fried chicken, 'loh pak ko' and porridge. Too bad Silas, Rachel and Sarah not around to join us. (I made it up to you guys next round, ok?)

The food was fabulous la! I am very happy to come 'home' again.

'Stinky' feast

The unavoidable feast finally came. It lasted 2 days in a roll. Unbelievable how people would go to such extend and affort to enjoy it. And it starts with the distinctive smell from the beloved king of fruit - DURIAN.

My dad purposely ordered and brought it back all the way from Tanjung Malim. Through my uncle's friend there, my dad brought about 30 durians with a very reasonable price that you only can imagine in KL. It comes with a free gunny sag of mangosteen! We have shared the 'treasure' with my other aunties and dad's friend. The balance was 'slaughtered' by my family.

The fruit is just too 'irresistible'. All the kids went for it that's include Reanne and Sarah. Imagine durian was their first solid food or in this case fruit! Ivan no doubt is very familiar with it as he have been introduced to it much earlier already. Totally liking it!!!

Bah Kut Teh

I guess I don't need much of description of the all famous Malaysian food 'Bah Kut Teh'. In a matter of fact my family had it at the birth place of the infamous food at Klang after visiting my grand aunt and uncle.

You can imagine the attraction power of this food that bring us, four generation dinning in one table. Unfortunately like my grant aunt commented earlier this restaurant wasn't the best around. So we figured out later. She was right. Not the one with 'umph' that I used to know of. A bit disappointed actually. On the other hand, the restaurant ID was pretty good. It has been quite a while I didn't go back to Klang, my birth place also. The best is still located at Teluk Pulai but we are kind of late that day and the restaurant have already closed for the day.

Nevertheless we had our filled. Most important of all having visited my grand aunt. She is the 2nd sister of my grandmom from my mom side. My grandmom and the younger sister has already passed away. So she reminds me a lot of my grandmom....... I missed her. She is the one that babysit me, my brother and two other cousins while we are still kids. A bit attached lah.

Reanne and Sarah was the only two who hasn't visited Klang. That day was their first. A new adventure for them.

Section 17 Wantan Mee

Yahoo, our no. 100th post

Sunday after church service, Silas and Rachel brought my family to Section 17, Petaling Jaya for lunch. At first wanted to eat the meat noddle but there was big crowd. So we eat at wantan mee restaurant just few shops away from our original destination.

Overall the wantan mee is not bad. The noddle was home made based on the taste and texture. I ate the soup type with dumpling......yum, yum. Ivan shared with mummy eating the dried wantam mee. Silas and Rachel also eat the dried type (I think so). Much improvement is seem in Ivan capability to eat on his own with less mess that is.

While eating, I noted the notice the owner placed informing of the price adjustment they have to made due to increase in raw material effective 1 July. Getting a bit sick of the price hike issue already. It is just every where of every single things. What a bummer. Well, still have to eat rite?!

Yong Tau Foo

As usual after Sunday church service we don't exactly know where to have our meal. When we reach Taman Connaught, mummy say why not eat the Yong Tau Foo which we have not been patroning very long time.

This is our 'first time' visiting them after they have move into their own shoplot. Previously they run it as individual stall together with others in a corner shop nearby where they have relocated.

They foods is still as good especially their fish ball. Ivan's favourite food as you can see in the photos. He munch and munch as both mummy and me dig in our noddles. Reanne was quite comfortable in the stroller.

Ivan managed to take some photos of his mummy and daddy with the phone camera. Very good pictures taken as you can see.
