Logos Hope - Largest Floating Book Fair

THE MV Logos Hope is the newest ship of Operation Mobilisation (OM) and will visit Port Klang from 29 Sept to 23 Oct 2011. This is the vessel's first call in Malaysia. Logos Hope replaces the MV Doulos which last visited Port Klang in 2006.

Known as the world's largest floating book fair, the ship carries over 5,000 titles on a wide range of subjects for sale at discounted prices. Through this, the ship has met the educational needs of communities around the world. The book fair will open daily for the general public.

Logos Hope is also here to bless the community through conferences and seminars on board, through ministry teams sent on outreach, and through a two-week volunteer programme for Malaysians to experience work and service on the ship.

This is one of those interesting outing worth going with children. So I am planning to go with my little kids more so they have not been into a big ship such as this.

Tanglong tanglong here and there

This year Mid Autumn or Mooncake festival we managed to spend time with our family on both sides. Overall the celebration was much quite then usual. Not many people were seen celebrating the festival as I observed in my neighborhood and other place. People still very much reserved by the stagnant economy.

At least the kids are enjoying it. Much delight especially for Reanne and Sarah for the tanglong a.k.a lantern and candle lighting experience.

Carol's Church Wedding

Attended my ex-colleague, Carol Tee's church wedding at Kajang Holy Family Church few weeks ago. This is one of my family first visit to the church new building and also our first time attending a catholic church wedding ceremony.

Congratulations Sean and Carol!

Powerpuff girl

Last month we celebrated my youngest sister in-law, Alana's birthday by dinning out. We ate at Seri Kembangan Lek Lek Restaurant. The finale was the birthday cake singing and cutting. My brother in-law Chee Yoong specially make for Alana a 3D Powerpuff Girl cake. Powerpuff Girl is one of Alana's favourite cartoon character. The cake not only looks special and cute, it also taste good. It's my first time seeing and eating such unique cake.

Once again for the record, blessed birthday Alana.

Should you interested and wanted more information on my bro in-law unique cake, you are welcome to visit his website at http://lyra-patisserie.blogspot.com. He takes order and makes delivery (depending on location).

Moving forward

Knowingly and unknowingly, the season of change is setting in. And the theme of change is 'moving forward'. Entering of a new season.

That is what Latter Rain Church, the church that my family attending is undergoing. Our church is litterally moving forward as we will be moving to a new place of worship at Jaya 1, Petaling Jaya. We are currently doing the 'Big Move' as our first Sunday Worship in Jaya 1 is in 30th August 2009.

Just yesterday the worhsip and media team have shifted some major components to the new premises. My buddy blogger Dan'Lion has captured the scene with his ready camera (click here to see). I was busy with others packing, shifting and setting up.

The changes is not only seen in my church but also in my life. The sense to move forward is strong (kinda hard to explain) and it keeps building up in momentum. You just want to make shift from the usual place. Move out from the comfort zone.

Move it, move it!

Putrajaya dragon boat festival

We didn't miss out the 1st ever dragon boat festival held at Putrajaya last Saturday.

First, the location was pretty obscure as the official website didn't provide any map. All it mentioned was Putrajaya Lake Garden. Soon I found out that it is held at Precint 6 beside the newly opened Pullman hotel, just nearby PICC (Putrajaya International Convention Centre). Second, even when we are there we have difficult time to find a good and decent signage to guide visitor there. Not really good first impression for an international event.

Anyhow, lets forget the shortfall but the family trip we had. 7 of us were there i.e. Silas, Rachel, little Sarah and my family. Overall we did enjoy ourselves. Suprisingly it is not the dragon boat race but a free horse ride that really trill us (kids and adults la). One thing for sure, the facilities there were good, with one grandstand for visitors, observation tower and boat deck. Under a shinny hot sun, our outing only last 1.5 hours. It's just very hot!

Horse riding for everybody!

Putrajaya International Dragon Boat festival

PUTRAJAYA will be hosting what is touted to be the largest Dragon Boat event in Malaysia, with more than 1,500 participants from various countries.

The three-day sporting event will be held from June 5 to 7 at the Putrajaya Water Sports Complex. So far, 1,500 participants from 30 local teams and 20 foreign teams – from China, Singapore, Indonesia, Britain, Vietnam, Japan, Thailand and the Philippines – have registered.

Sound interesting for me to bring my family there as we did last trip for the international hot air ballon festival. The kids will love it. They never seen it before......so am I.

Night Glow at Putrajaya

After gotto to know about the first ever hot air balloon fiesta at Putrajaya, we made an afford to go to experience it......especially for kids. Pei and I had neither have a close encounter with it yet. The event starts at 7.o0am but the main event is at 8.00 am when the participating balloons take off and fly. Unfortunately we arrived late on 8.45am and missed the excitements. We only saw one showcase balloon which for visitors to have a fun ride on it.......at a cost. Anyway tickets are all sold out. Nevertheless, we hang around for about one and half hours photo taking and visiting the exhibitor booths.

Feeling not satisfied, we decided to come back in the evening to watch the night flow show which will be on 8.30pm. This time around, we try to be early if not on time.

By the evening, my family and Silas' family reach about 8.30pm at the same location. Thank God, we wasn't late. The show was delay slightly. About 9pm the nigh glow slowly warms up with balloons mushrooming one by one from the ground and starts to light up. Not really a 'wow' thing but still was quite an experience. We located a spot and sat on the ground to watch the event. About one hour (or maybe less) the event ended. Not bad for a 1st time experience but could have been better. Maybe next round then.
