All alone...by myself

Being alone at home by myself is an unusual feeling. Well, that's what I felt yesterday when I try to close my eyes to sleep. It takes me awhile to doze off. Lonely....I guess.

The kids and mummy is putting a night at my in-law's place. My parents is away for their church camp. And I got to be home to hold the fort.

The bedroom is awful empty and quiet. Usually bedtime is always if not often 'noisy' with Ivan and Reanne trying to settle down to sleep. The kids will often play with each other, read books, running around, shouting, toss and turn before finally doze off.

I got to bear with the 'unusual quiet' bedtime for one more night. Another word.....I missed my family.

More Malaysians turn to international schools

As reported in MalaysiaInsider, more middle-class Malaysians are enrolling their children in international schools despite long waiting lists, as parents grow increasingly frustrated with the local education system.

Another reason because since 2006 the rules were relaxed and international schools were allowed to enrol up to 40 per cent Malaysians – middle-class Malaysians have started placing their children in such schools, which have increased in number. At least 20 more international schools are scheduled to open soon, according to school operators.

As parents myself, I can't help to think and feel the recent changes on national education system have sent many wrong signal to many parents in this nation. Education is the forefront foundation to build, nurture and cultivate new generation of well equip nation builders. But how come this was not laid down properly as related in the changes made in just a short spend of 6 years. The ministry must be aware of the seriousness of this nation building 'pillar' in order not to jeopardise our children future if not their (minister) children.

Not many can afford to send their children to a better, systematic and well equip international school. Given a choice many parents would like to do so. But monetary factor is a big challange. So in the end of days, parents (like me) will have to do it ourselves to dig deep, think far and do all that we can in order that our children will be well nurture.

Fastest man in the world

Usain Bolt (Jamaica) the current fastest man in the world has broke his own record again. He clock 9.58 second to finish the 100m dash.

On average Bolt have run 37.58km per hour to achieve the feat. If we are to run below 10 second, we got to dash more than 36km per hour. Here is something for you to think of. Interesting isn't it.

Dataran Budaya Kuala Lumpur 2009

My family were at Dataran Merdeka last Saturday attending the Dataran Budaya Kuala Lumpur 2009. Our main purpose was to visit my sister in-law Soo Mei who has a display booth together with few of her friends for her homemade jewelry a.k.a Molecule Handmade Jewelry (you are welcome to drop by her website www.mol3cule.blogspot.com). My family together with my parent in-laws were there last Saturday having our dinner. This is my 2nd visit to the cafe but 1st for my family members. My family likes the food that being served there. We order several dishes which comes together with brown rice. Their miso soup and seaweed soup were fantastic. Unfortunately I didn't take any photos (busy eating and serving Ivan).

There were also a corner for reading and books recommendation available for visitor to browse. Overall the food is good and so is the environment. Have a try if you have not venture into organic vegetarian food before.

Restaurant Woo Pin Fish Head Noddle

My family weekend venture another round of re-visit one of our 'old' place we (Soo Pei and I before the arrival of our kids) used to eat. Thats bring us to Restaurant Woo Pin at Jalan Ikan Emas (Gold Fish Road....so appropriate) just along Jalan Loke Yew.

They are famous for their Fish Head Noddle and Fish Paste Noddle. Price for one bowl have already peak to RM6.50 (small) and RM7.50 (big). We ordered one big Fish Paste and one small Fish Head noddle. Both the kids like it especially Ivan.

We got to pre-warn you guys, the restaurant is without air-cond and hot. Operated in a low cost apartment shop unit. Kinda small and tigh. So prepare to sweat for the food.

A(H1N1) death toll reached 62

As of yesterday 3 more deaths have been reported from the Influenza A (H1N1) virus, bringing the overall death toll to 62.

Latest victim were a 6 year-old child with Down Syndrome and a hole in the heart who died on Thursday of "pneumonia with underlying Down Syndrome and pulmonary hypertension. Another was a 3year-old also succumbed to H1N1 complications after being admitted to the hospital on Aug 1 for fever and cough and suffering breathing difficulties for five days.

There were delays in administrating anti-viral treatment to the victims although being admitted to hospital. The Health Ministry is currently checking on why there was a delay. This is a very serious matter where such delay has caused death due to late treatment. This shouldn't be happening since the death toll is getting serious. Early detection and treatment is the vital key to fight this deadly virus.

Another alarming statistic parents need to take heed is the raising numbers of children succumbed to A(H1N1). Precaution methods (refer to US CDC recommendations) and monitoring constantly need to be done on our children. So parents be on high alert if children starts to be give early flu like symptoms and monitor their breathing sign.
